Petroleum Engineers work in all parts of the world and are amongst the highest paid engineering professionals. They are in strong demand both in Australia and abroad.
Petroleum Engineers initially work outdoors: offshore and onshore, often in remote field locations. They also work in offices of oil companies in capital cities. They use the most modern and advanced technology. They may be employed directly by large or small companies, or they may work as consultants.
Other career opportunities include economic evaluation and financing of major energy projects, research to improve oil recovery and develop new production systems, management, education and environmental control.
