"We've had some incredibly bright UNSW Co-op scholars join the team during our partnership, they bring fresh thinking, energy and new ways of working. They challenge us in the right way to re-look at our processes. It's always difficult to say farewell at the end of their placement, because within 6 months they make such a significant impact on the team and the way we operate."
Amanda Nakad, National Marketing Manager, McDonald's

Selection

Sponsors are directly involved in the selection of scholars for the program. Representatives are invited to participate in interview panels alongside academics and the Co-op team to select the scholar pool for the following year.

Industry Experience

Taking part in the education and professional development of your industry's talent pool, sponsors provide 3 industry relevant work placements. This is an opportunity to see scholars at work in your company's environment, providing 15-18 months high quality full-time resource (no additional cost, no permanent head count). Treated like new grad employees, the scholars thrive in the work environment and provide real value over the placement duration.

"The work that I've done during my Co-op placements has been extremely hands on and this has taught me an incredible amount in industry best practice and overall subject-matter knowledge. The responsibilities I’ve been given have challenged me in more ways than one, and by successfully delivering these I've realised the depth of my own capabilities."

Recruitment

Through Co-op, sponsors gain direct access to some of Australia’s best and brightest. Demonstrating early leadership potential and passion for your industry, over 80% of these scholars are recruited by our sponsor companies every year.

Relationships with the scholars are established over four years and sponsors have priority access to discuss recruitment with our scholars through early recruitment functions held for all of our final year scholars prior to the mainstream recruitment period. For the majority of our programs, recruitment functions are held in February.

Financial Support

From 2020, Sponsors provide a scholarship of $20,000* plus GST p.a. for four years. This is paid to our scholars in a fortnightly stipend managed by the university. There are no additional payments whilst the scholars are on placement with a sponsor company and students are covered by university insurance.
